Guns N' Roses
It was 1985 when a new rock n’ roll band began to emerge. It was possibly the worst time they could have picked in the history of music to try and make an impression on those who cared to listen. Mostly because the music industry of the time was filled with pop and dance music. After all, Michael Jackson and Madonna were unquestionably the King and Queen of music in the United States of America.
Nevertheless, the new rock band made such a big impact on the music industry that they were immediately named “the most dangerous band in the world”. Singer Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stardlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler got together to form what would eventually become one of the most successful and popular rock bands in the history of music: Guns N’ Roses.
Their debut album, Appetite for Destruction (1987), was a success, mostly thanks to the song Sweet Child o’ Mine, which reached number one on Billboard Hot 100. Prior to their debut album, the band had gone through several members changes, with many of them leaving and others being quickly replaced. Instability among band members will definitely become a trademark of Guns N’ Roses, which accompanies them to this day.
The rock band went on to quickly become a music phenomenon, with incredibly popular songs such as Don’t Cry, November Rain, and Paradise City. The baby-face of Axl Rose mixed with his bad boy, rocker look quickly turned him into a heartthrob, along with the other members of the band. Slash, in particular, became very popular for his signature long, curly black hair and cylindrical black hat. Soon, they were incredibly famous and going on international tours.
However, with fame came trouble. The band was accused of being racist and homophobic due to the content of some of their songs. Axl Rose tried to defend himself by saying that the use of some racist words were not directed towards black people, rather they were terms they used to refer to bothersome people in general. The explanations did not ring well with their listeners who started pointed fingers at the lead singer.
The rock n’ roll band eventually crashed under a tremendous amount of pressure from the public. One by one, members began to leave the band and take a stab at solo careers. Slash was very successful at that, as the main artists of the time, such as Michael Jackson, called him to collaborate with them on famous songs.
However, through the years, they have all made an attempt at getting the official members of the band together, with various fails. In recent years, however, all the members of the band have been able to come together and perform live in some of the most popular shows and music festivals, such as the Coachella Valley Arts and Music Festival. Seeing Axl Rose and Slash back together on stage as Guns N’ Roses drove fans wild and had them dream of a forever reunion of the most dangerous band in the world!
